HOSEA HELPS
Since 1970, Martin Luther King Jr.'s National Field Organizers and executive staffers Reverend Hosea and Juanita Williams embarked on a mission to further raise public awareness and provide human-centered solutions to ending workd hunger, thus creating Hosea Helps, a.k.a. Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless. This Atlanta-based organization serves poverty-stricken families and individuals in underserved communities. Starting from humble beginnings of sponsoring big holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday events, Hosea Helps works every year to provide hot meals, medical treatments, clothing, family reunification and access to housing and employment servies during the annual Festival of Service; comprising four major U.S. holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and Easter. Hosea Helps is a one-stop shop for Human Services, supplying thousands of underprivileged iundividuals with much-needed services and items including, transportation cards, hot showers and barber services and have most recently been on the frontlines helping families through the COVID-19 pandemic. From strategically expanding into a yearlong human service NGO and establishing programs in the Phillippines, Haiti, Uganda, and the United States, today the organization reaches over 61,000 people per year with over 9,000 volunteers. The organization is now one of the largest 501(c)3 non-profit organizations in the Southeast that provide direct services to underprivileged communities year-round.
